Best Piece of Writing Advice Ever

I read a list of writing tips posted on a literary agent’s website. The scribe responsible? R.L. Stine, about whom I have read quite extensively. Never read anything by him, however.

No. 3 on the list killed me.

Without even realizing it, I had long been awaiting this precise fragment of information.

Never use WAS as a verb. Too boring. Never use PUT or GOT. Too ugly.

That’s it, folks.
